Litleo (above) has a new evolution as Pyroar is officially announced by The Pokémon Company.
Pyroar is the evolution of Litleo in Pokémon X and Y. Pyroar is a Fire/Normal Type like Litleo which makes the two the first time that Fire has been paired with the secondary type of Normal.
Pokémon X and Y are introducing Normal Type as a secondary type for the first time in the game’s history. While this doesn’t sound like a big deal it may mean that these Pokémon will be immune to Ghost Type attacks and that they may receive a damage boost from Normal Type moves.
Pyroar can learn the Normal-type move Echoed Voice, “which makes its power grow with every turn. Its power will increase even if other Pokémon use it, so try Echoed Voice out with your allies in Double Battles and Triple Battles to experience its real value.”
Pyroar will be classified in the Pokédex as a ‘Royal Pokémon’ with “a great mane of burning flames” and his abilities will include Rivalry and Unnerve.
Pyroar looks to be this generation’s version of Houndour and Houndoom, or Growlithe and Arcanine. Pyroar looks more majestic in the video produced by IGN which can be found here.
His Fire/Normal type will make him an interesting combination although it will be important to see how his base stats will match up to those who preceded him. He has big boots to fill if he’s going to be compared to Arcanine.
IGN have linked the latest Pokémon to be joining the X and Y roster. This time it’s Pyroar, first evolution of the new Pokémon Litleo (pictured above). The pictures are watermarked so I can’t embed them into the article but you can find them here and here. Litleo captured many people’s attention when it featured in the fourth gameplay trailer for the sixth generation games.
Little more is known about the family of fire-based lions, however we’ll keep you updated when news arrives.
